Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy involves the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that cause joint and muscle pain, sports injuries, work injuries, postural dysfunction, movement dysfunction and a wide variety of other musculoskeletal problems. Physiotherapy will help to reduce your symptoms of pain, restore you normal movement and prevent the reoccurrence of the injury/condition. This result can be achieved by using a series of treatment modalities including manual therapy, manipulation, massage, taping, dry needling/acupuncture, exercise and most importantly education.

Treatments Used

Manual therapy
Manual therapyClinical approach utilising skilled hands on techniques including but not limited to manipulation, mobilisation of joints, and stretching which are used to treat soft-tissue and joint structures in order to modulate pain, increase range of motion, reduce soft-tissue inflammation, improve contractile and non-contractile tissue repair/extensibility, and improve function.
Musculoskeletal physiotherapist
Dry NeedlingInvolves the insertion of very fine needles into dysfunctional tissues such as myofascial trigger points in order to improve pain and/or restore function.
General physiotherapy
Exercise based therapyExercise incorporates specific movements with or without additional resistance to promote normal movement of muscle tissue and joints which can in turn assist in the regeneration, strength and stability of these structures. Specific exercises assist specific conditions which is why professional guidance of exercise is so important.
Education
EducationUnderstanding your condition is paramount for your recovery and your ability to self-manage your condition. Many conditions can be treated and prevented by having a good understanding of how your body works and also knowing what is good for your body.
